Protecting God's Children Workshop & Fingerprinting Information

CHILD PROTECTION CLASS

St. John's will host another Child Protection Training session on Tuesday, August 28, from 6-8pm. If you plan on volunteering with students (this includes going on field trips), and you have not yet attended one, here is your chance!

Please register online at www.virtus.org. If you have already registered in Virtus, please select this workshop. Your name must be on the registered list in order to attend. When the class is finished, please return the Acknowledgement E form in the back of the pamphlet that you will receive. (This is a requirement!)

FINGERPRINTS

St. John's will offer Fingerprinting on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am – 3:00pm, by appointment only. You must be fingerprinted in order to volunteer at the school, Religious Education, or any parish events that children will be attending. Please call the Rectory at 301-373-2281 to make your appointment. In order to make your appointment, you must have on file with us your Application for Volunteering. You will need a Criminal Background Investigation Authorization Form, which you can get at the school or the rectory. We will also have them available at the time of the fingerprinting. The fee for fingerprinting is $38.25. You can pay by cash or check.

Bus Transportation Form


Free bus transportation is available for students who live nearby. To view the bus routes, visit this website: http://www.co.saint-marys.md.us/dpw/nonpublicschools.asp. If you are a new student who needs transportation or if you have a change in your transportation from last year, please fill out the bus form. You may fax it or send it directly to them at the address/fax number listed on the form. This needs to be done before August 3, 2012.

St. John's Educators Continue their Education




Teachers at St. John's School never cease to learn.


Most recently, Mrs. Theresa Taylor (pictured with her father, Raymond Loyd) earned her Masters of Arts in Leadership in Teaching from Notre Dame of Maryland University on May 26th, 2012. Mrs. Taylor graduated with a 4.0 GPA and was nominated to join Kappa Delta Pi, the national honor society for educators.

Congratulations Mrs. Taylor for this achievement.








SJS Soloist at the Southern MD Blue Crabs Game






SJS student S. Skane was selected to sing the National Anthem at the Blue Crab's home game on Friday, June 22 at 7:05 p.m. Come out for a fun night of baseball and fireworks and be sure to wear your St. John's School spirit wear.







Summerstock's Wizard of Oz features SJS students!


This summer's Rec & Park's play production will feature SJS students, S. Fratz and S. Skane along with SJS alumni L. Hanf, M. Williams & J. Smedley. Tickets are now on sale for this 30th anniversary show - evening performances will take place July 20-22 and July 26-29. There will also be a 1:00 matinee show on July 28. Protecting God's Children Workshop

There will be a workshop at St. John's Church on June 6, 2012 from 6-9pm in the Monsignor Harris Center. If you are planning on volunteering with the Religious Education Program or with the school you must attend a Protecting God's Children Program if you haven't already done so. The Archdiocese of Washington requires all volunteers that will be in the presence of children be fingerprinted and attend this workshop. Please sign up for the class at www.virtus.org.
